My Papa's Waltz
What do you guys think this poem is about?
I originally thought it was about a drunk father that beat his child and how screwed up their relationship was. But after I read it again, I thought that it could just be about a child dancing with his/her father and feeling close to him during this time.
Why is poetry always so confusing!?! Please help me figure this one out!!!

Re: My Papa's Waltz
i didn't picture it as the father beating the son, but i also didnt picture literal waltzing with old crappy music. i just thought of a father coming home late from tough day at work, maybe after having a quick stop at the bar, and having fun with his son. i picture them swinging around the house, knocking things over, and laughing as the mom looked on with the kind of "you better not break anything" look on her face. then it was time to settle down and go off to bed.
but then again, i dont know anything when it comes to poetry.

Jordan in my opinion, you shouldn't write about My Papa's Waltz. Terminal Resemblance is longer and has a lot more to offer than any of the other poems.

I think that "forgiving my father" will be fairly easy to write about. I think my claim will go along the lines of the narrator, while angry at her father for not providing for her family, she is using her father as a scapegoat for her current financial instability.
The fact that the narrator doesnt stop ranting about money and "payday" gave me the impression that she was hoping for money from her father's will when he died, but when she realized that he didnt have any money she was furious...
these smiley faces are pretty cool

I wrote about forgiving my father too, but i said that the complexity that exists between the father and daughter is due to her mother's behavior when she was alive. i said the wife in the poem was a gold digger of sorts and that she constantly asked for more money and more material things and that her behavior rubbed off on her daughter.
i still say the goku smiley is the best
btw, colts just made a field goal
