The Rich Brother

I think I choose Donald as The Rich Brother. While he is not wealthy like Pete, who makes good money, has a wife, and owns a sailboat, Donald is spiritually rich. The narrator mentions that Donald prays often, refers to everyone as his brothers or sisters, and found happiness in life, even though people in his position are typically depressed.

How Winston Supports the Party in 1984

In 1984 I think that Winston supports the government by conforming outwardly, but inwardly despises the ideas spread by Big Brother. Here are some reasons:

Winston writes in his journal- "DOWN WITH BIG BROTHER"

Winston willfully participates in the excercises on the telescreen

Winston works dutifully at the Ministry of Truth

Winston gets riled up during the Two Minutes Hate, then regrets it

many other items toward the end of the book, but I dont want to ruin it

My Claim and Ideas

I have decided that I will write my paper over the poem "Night Ferry"

I appologize in advanced for the following wall of text:

This poem seems as if it is one of the easier ones to understand, and I could not really get the other ones. Something about how the author writes is interesting to me. I believe that "Night Ferry" is a ferry that carries people that are dying, or have died recently to their final resting place. I believe this because the narrator mentions ...

1984 - Completed

Potential 1984 Spoilers.

These are my ideas and thoughts, not necessarily what the author actually meant.

So I just finished reading 1984 and it is a very good and interesting book. In the beginning I was almost expecting it to replicate Farenheit 451, but it did not. 1984 is much different, and the citizens are oppressed even further than they were in 451. The citizens are controlled by Thought Police and Telescreens that will watch and listen to you at all times, just seeing if you ...

My Papa's Waltz

What do you guys think this poem is about?

I originally thought it was about a drunk father that beat his child and how screwed up their relationship was. But after I read it again, I thought that it could just be about a child dancing with his/her father and feeling close to him during this time.

Why is poetry always so confusing!?! Please help me figure this one out!!!
